If this book were a person, it would be old enough to drive this year.

I’m not even kidding, check it out:

I’ve never heard…

anyone tell young men to have enough “self-respect” to not have sex.

But somehow, a young woman’s whole self-worth hinges on her “purity,” i.e. chastity.

On Equal Pay Day, Sexist Economy Doesn't Exist, says Carrie Lukas →

“Feminists may protest, but American women aren’t the victims of a sexist economy. It’s time to declare an end to the Equal Pay Day myth.” Carrie Lukas

In the article, she gives prime examples of how our sexist economy works, like women’s decision to choose between children and high-paying career, as proof that we don’t have a sexist economy.
The day that deciding to become a mother and not being economically penalized is a reality is the day we will no longer have a sexist economy.

Ann Or Hilary: Either Way, Motherhood Is a Dismal Financial Decision for American Women →

“What is “working woman” versus “stay-at-home” code for? For the most part it is code for “what is a woman’s relationship to a man and what is his earning potential?” It’s a paternalistic, sexist framework that subordinates women either way.”

“If a woman “chooses” to be a stay at home mom, because entrenched pay discrepancy, cultural habits and a gender segregated workforce make that “choice” the most logical and financially rational, she is not compensated, either through pay or benefits, for her investment of time and effort and risks her long term financial security.”

“ If you insist on modeling economic policy on an outdated, sluggish, pater-familia model then you will get an outdated, sluggish mater-familia bashing economy.”

Read the whole article so I stop pasting it here, it’s just too good.

I’m tired of hearing men say they’re concerned with treating women better only after they have a daughter.

The Consequences of Retrograde Right-Wing Politics →

“Now polling released today by USA Today/Gallup confirms recent Republican missteps threaten to damage them with voters of both genders. While women are more interested in the issue, both men and women disagree with Santorum’s and Romney’s position.” (Margie Omero)
